Experience
- Property investment and portfolio management for investor clients, negotiating leases and lease management documents for several large property investors as well as acting for local business in connection with their lease, investment, and development requirements.
- Property backed finance work acting for lenders and borrowers in a wide range of projects, including development finance, refinance and acquisition borrowing.
- Sale and purchase of hotels, pubs and other real estate focussed assets in the leisure and hospitality sector.
- Working working with local accountants and surveyors in the management of properties held by insolvent landlords and tenants and in the disposal of such properties both independently and working in teams with other specialists.
- Working with property investors in the acquisition, disposal and management of properties in SIPP and SSAS pension schemes, working with a wide range of SIPP Providers and scheme trustees."

- Acting for a prominent local Employment Agency on their move to landmark new offices in the centre of Newcastle [Central Employment]
- Acting for a leading North East based Leisure group on a range of acquisitions including The Croft Hotel, Lartington Hall and Raven Hall [Apartment Group]
Outside of the office
John is a member of the firm's CSR committee and is passionate about working with the team at Hay & Kilner to raise funds for, and the profile of, our charity of the year each year - this generally involves a challenge or two a year, and in the last couple of years he has completed a number of walks, hikes and cycle challenges -he's not fit, but he's stubborn...
Away from work he helps to lead his local church, and will normally be found on a Sunday morning singing with the church band.
He also helps to lead a local Boys Brigade Company working with children aged 5-18 in Gateshead.
When time permits I love hillwalking (slowly), cycling (also slowly) and rugby (watching - my playing days are long gone).
